According to a review of the California Department of Insurance Automobile Insurance Manual done on February 8, 2008 - the minimum car insurance requirements are as follows:

| That was pretty nice piece of data. Its hard to find exactly how much you get paid for any motor accident. At least now I have some idea. |

| The minimums seem very low. 5 thousand for property damage? That doesn't cover much. $15,000 is what, a two day stay in the hospital and some rehab? They should reevaluate the minimum requirements. |

| These really do seem like very low minimums. It's hard to picture - especially in California where everything costs so much. |
